Digimura helps the V&A’s Art of Selling Songs, “POP” in The Ulster Museum

Papergraphics' Digimura one-piece wallcoverings were the perfect solution for The Ulster Museum and design, print and display experts, Minprint.

Passionate about print and, with 40 years experience, Minprint and Papergraphics certainly know what's needed to produce and deliver large-format digital print that works in public spaces.

Based in Belfast, Minprint has been using Papergraphics large-format print solutions for many years. When Minprint and its MAD Creative team were approached to generate ideas for two new exhibits at the Ulster Museum, Digimura-1 (Papergraphics' one-piece wallcovering) was the perfect print solution for museum-quality material and large-format seamless exhibition graphics.

National Museums Northern Ireland: V&A's "Art of Selling Songs" and "Vice Versa" exhibit opened at The Ulster Museum during the summer.

The first exhibit; "The Art of Selling Songs" (Music Graphics from the V&A) presented artwork for some of the world's most celebrated album covers. The second called "Vice Versa" was an exhibit that explores the influence of menswear on women's fashion and—vice versa!

Jamie McMinnis, Managing Director at MAD Creative, explains: "We already supply the National Museums of Northern Ireland with a range of print and installation services. From vinyl, to prop/exhibit creation, lightboxes and other bespoke items".

"The two new exhibitions required a range of print and installation solutions. Which included covering large areas with seamless, high-quality graphics and we chose to use Papergraphics' Digimura-1 wallcoverings to cover these areas. The quality of the print and durability of the material gave us the right solution for an impactful and reliable display".

A historically proven fact: combining creative solutions with predictable, reliable, high-quality results, is a surefire recipe for success.

In the following months, The Ulster Museum also asked MAD Creative to apply further Digimura-1 wallcovering solutions. The first in their Wynne & Pym café, covering a long wall displaying a beautiful architectural story of the building's history; and the other in support of "Takabuti" the Museum's famous ancient Egyptian mummy.

If you're installing large photos or graphics in public spaces and need print materials that meet stringent fire regulations, deliver durability and, exceptional print quality. Papergraphics and Digimura have got you covered!

The decision to use the Papergraphics' Digimura-1 one-piece wallcoverings was a straightforward choice for Minprint. Printing the exhibition graphics in one seamless piece without joins is a solution that visitors won't easily damage. Also, as a product developed for public spaces, Digimura-1 is naturally durable and a large-format digital print material designed to withstand knocks or scrapes over time.

MAD Creatives' Jamie McMinnis explains: "the quality of the material was key as we needed something that would look museum standard. The ability to print in seamless pieces was also important so we could produce high-quality seamless graphics. Our client was thrilled with the result, and we have now installed (four) more Digimura-1 wallcoverings in the Ulster museum in different projects."

Digimura-1 is the only one-piece digital wallcovering on the market that meets all the legal requirements for commercial and contract interiors.

Digimura-1 prints beautifully and is also fully compliant with the Euroclass EN 13501-1 fire-rating. With a subtle satin finish, its PVC coating offers excellent durability. Plus, the no-show-through grey back, ensures customers can create high-quality flat-wall installations for striking feature walls and murals.

As it is a one-piece wallcovering, it can also improve productivity as artwork creation is simplified, and it requires just one print-run. It can even help to reduce waste during installation.
